The shoulder harness attachments broke in an accident with an IKARUS C42

aircraft.

loops which are available as a retro-fit kit.

Compliance:

Before the next flight.

Mass and balance:

Not affected.

Accomplishment instructions:

The procedures for the replacement of the steel wire loops for both pilot and co

pilot safety harnesses are shown in the accompanying sketch.

The steel wire (1) must be fed from front to back under the longitudinal tube (2) and

over the traverse tube. Both ends of the steel wire are then fed down and under

each side of the C strut. Under the C strut the wire thimbles are connected via the

release fitting (5). The M8 nut (6) in the longitudinal tube (2) is then covered with

the accompanying plastic cap.

The accompanying foam rubber strip may be adhered to the release fitting if it

rattles.

The work may be carried out by a qualified person.
